Mahamakut Buddhist University aims to produce capable graduates with good knowledge and behaviors. It means that all students have to contain perfect Buddhism knowledge and become scholars capable to lead the Thai society and to solve various problems between Buddhism and other religions. The University Policies are ;
1) to produce graduates to become well on Buddhism knowledge with high quality in both knowledge and good conducts abiding the Buddhism holy teachings.
2) to search new sources of Buddhism knowledge including helping the society.
3) Providing Buddhism services to the public because the university acts as Buddhism education center.
4) Attempting to preserve and promote the national culture and maintain the Thai nationalism with remaining the Buddhist Practice and its cultures.

Vision
Mahamakut Buddhist University is an institution that produces graduates with good knowledge, well-behaved and live in society with Brahmawihan Dharma. a source of knowledge and experts in Buddhism that can guide society and able to settle conflicts in academic matters of Buddhism. It is a systematic institution administration and international standards in education management.
Mission – พันธกิจ
มหาวิทยาลัยมหามกุฏราชวิทยาลัย มีพันธกิจที่จะต้องดำเนินการให้สอดคล้องกับวิสัยทัศน์ดังนี้
1. ผลิตบัณฑิตทางด้านพระพุทธศาสนา ให้มีคุณสมบัติตามปรัชญาของมหาวิทยาลัยและกระจายโอกาสให้พระภิกษุ-สามเณร คฤหัสถ์และผู้สนใจได้ศึกษามากขึ้น
2. วิจัยและพัฒนางานวิชาการ เพื่อสร้างองค์ความรู้ทางด้านวิชาการพระพุทธศาสนาใหม่ๆ ให้สอดคล้องกับสภาพเศรษฐกิจและสังคมของประเทศ และเผยแผ่องค์ความรู้ในระบบเครือข่ายการเรียนรู้ที่ทันสมัย
3. สร้างเสริมให้บริการวิชาการแก่สังคม ชุมชนและท้องถิ่น โดยเฉพาะวิชาการทางพระพุทธศาสนา เพื่อนำไปประยุกต์ใช้ในชีวิตประจำวันและสร้างสันติสุขให้เกิดในสังคม ชุมชนและท้องถิ่น สามารถชี้นำสังคมและยุติข้อขัดแย้งในหลักวิชาการ พระพุทธศาสนาและจริยธรรม
4. รวบรวมและจัดเก็บข้อมูล ด้านศาสนาศิลปะและวัฒนธรรม ให้มหาวิทยาลัยเป็นแหล่ง ค้นคว้า ทำนุบำรุงรักษาภูมปัญญาไทและท้องถิ่น สร้างชุมชนที่เข้มแข็ง มีภูมิคุ้มกันวัฒนธรรมที่ไม่เหมาะสม
5. จัดการระบบบริหารการจัดการศึกษาของมหาวิทยาลัยให้ได้มาตรฐานสากล
